Marvin Ernest Morris 

Bio

Marvin has been professional writer since the age of 17, with the self-published collection Death is Mandatory but Not Encouraged. After self-publishing two epic poems, 'Killer' and 'hands and eyes want back', he started Jawbreaker in 2024, an online newsletter with a small audience on Substack.

Jawbreaker features Marvin's digital collages alongside his short stories, opinion pieces, and personal essays.

In addition to his writing, Marvin worked as a professional chef for five years, where he honed his graphic design talents not only through upscale plating but by making art for restaurants he worked in. Now, he is entering the world of professional creative services with a portfolio of original work and commissions as a graphic designer and editor.

Philosophy

Inspired by his co-collaborators, the Denver scene, and our post-post-postmodern hell, Marvin cites Thomas Ligotti, Ursula K Le Guin, Ray Bradbury, Don De Lilo, and John Waters as his biggest inspirations. His literary work is easily recognized by its unique sentence structure, melodramatic tone, and (frankly) bizarre sense of humor.

Marvin's graphic design work is more commercially friendly, drawing inspiration from retro styles, jewel tones, and the light-up billboards visible in Denver along I-25.
